Her mother was a piano teacher, and she taught her as well. She learned to play the violin while she was in college. Her passion for teaching music grew while her two children took violin and piano lessons. She has been very involved in her children's music practice at home. Aya enjoys seeing her children flourish as they play music.

Aya has a Master’s Degree in Education from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia. She taught children and adults English and Japanese in Japan and Australia. Aya noticed from her teaching experience that students are successful in learning music when it is interesting and fun.
