Refusing to press the "pause" button on life

Covid won't force me hit the PAUSE button in my life!

What would have happened---

-if I believed and listened to the doctors who told me that I could never walk in my life because of debilitating arthritis? I wouldn't have been able to raise a family!

-if I listened to everyone who told me I was foolish in quitting a technology job and starting a music school business? My music school, Notes n' Beats, that provides employment to over 25 people would never have existed.

-if I felt miserable and depressed by saying "Why did cancer happen to me?" I say, "Why not me?"

-if I stopped working, because I was quarantined for months while suffering from cancer? I would have had to close my music school and restart my business from scratch.

I am not here to brag, but am here to say that I try my best to keep a positive spin in my life, in spite of the challenges that my family and I have been through. I find things to keep myself busy and I learn new things to bring change and challenge to my life. I resort to music and friends, and that usually keeps me going. Otherwise, wouldn't I be missing the point of life?

There are always trying times in our lives - This time, it is COVID - But let us NOT hit the PAUSE || button and let us NOT put our lives on hold.

Confucius said, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall"

Yes, COVID made us fall and slow down in our tracks.

But, isn't this one of the BEST chances for us to explain to our children that regardless of what happens, we can still fight back and bring normalcy back to our lives? Even if it means adapting to a new normal?

Yes, this 'new normal' is a change that is CONSTANT. We will adapt to our "new normal" as it comes, and we will still find ways to live through it. Explain to your children that at times in life, we may not have 100% of what we want, but if you make the most of what you have, it will still be 100% of you have.

I think and say this every time we have a student at the music school who wants to stop lessons because they are unsure about this new online format. I totally get that it is very new and may not work but I humbly feel that it just goes back to an old saying, "if there is a will, there is a way". Yes, it will take a few tries to adapt to anything new but when we have the CONVICTION to make it work, things usually work, IMHO. When we give no choice BUT to make it work, I'll be damned if it won't! - Believe me!

Resort to things like art and music during difficult times like these---they can calm the mind. Keep yourself active with daily workouts and find good eating habits. Grow plants and flowers and find time to play games with family.

Tough times never last, Tough people do!

So click on that Play button and enjoy life to its fullest.
